You Can Weigh with This or You Can Weigh with That
Most of us have a love-hate relationship with our scales. It can bring us great joy when it gives an attractive number or extreme disappointment when it's so not. However, I've found that the angst we have at the scales over can be reduced by simply upgrading the type of scale we use.
The standard scale found in most households can only give you one piece of data, Your Weight. We, however, know that our bodies are made up of so many components that contribute to our overall weight. Unfortunately, the standard scale is not designed to consider all those components. So to understand better what that one number is made of, you need a Biometric Scale (aka Smart Scale) to help with that.
Biometric scales or Smart Scales do a lot more than weigh you. They are designed to give you insight into your overall internal body makeup. Smart Scales get their data/measurements by using BIA(bioelectric impedance analysis), which means that a nondetectable electrical current passes through your feet. So you don't feel anything, don't worry. BIA allows you to track what part of your weight is fat, muscle, water, and bone, but some will tell you the percentage of visceral fat(fat around organs), which can be unhealthy and dangerous in excessive amounts.
While using a smart scale can help reduce the angst of weighing, it can also help understand where your body is on the journey to a healthier weight. For example, we've all had those moments when the number on the scale didn't change. However, just because the number didn't change doesn't mean that change wasn't happening. Looking at that one number and being armed with the additional information from a smart scale would allow you to see that maybe you did indeed lose fat, but you also built muscle, which is a good thing. Having information like this is so encouraging and empowering!
Incorporating this type of scale into your routine is a much better choice. You'll find that it's a great partner to have on your journey towards better health, or if your body composition is already within a healthy range, it will help you keep tabs on things.
